Ed's Scale Models

In my view, early jets are just like the airplanes of the Golden Age. There is a technological breakthrough and the early applications have a distinct flavor. This period in aviation is one of my favorite subjects for building jet models.

The F9F Panther has the distinction of being the most successful first generation jet airplane operated by the U.S. Navy. This sleek Grumman "Cat" served during the Korean war. This kit was released in 1990. It is a fairly good kit, with excellent detail. The panel lines are raised, but that's not hard to solve. The external weaponery is very well detailed and comes with a choice of bombs, rockets or external fuel tanks. These early jets were pretty fuel thirsty!
